Japanese swords

The Japanese sword, which has been crafted for over a thousand years using the specific techniques of laminated Damascus steel and partial hardening, is not only one of the most sophisticated bladed weapons ever created by humankind, but also an object of great artistic, historical, and cultural significance. Today, the term "artistic sword" (bijutsu-to) is used; in the past, it was regarded as the "soul of the samurai"—bushi no tamashii.

Exhibition

The Art of the Samurai in the Heart of Prague

The Samurai Art Gallery became a key partner of the prestigious exhibition “Japan of the Samurai,” which brought the Clam-Gallas Palace to life in early 2025. As the curator of this exhibition, I had the honor of working closely on the selection of unique loaned works that formed the backbone of the entire exhibition. The grand opening was presided over by H.E. Nagaoka, the Japanese Ambassador, together with the Mayor of Prague, Bohuslav Svoboda.
